Oh so Sweet Antique Wooden Bear with Pincushion Drum

Just how much sweetness can one pincushion have? When I saw this little pincushion it had been labelled as Victorian, but my instinct tells me that it is slightly younger than that, I would of thought it was more likely to be Edwardian circa early 1900's, my reason for this is that this little fellow's face is more that of a teddy bear rather than a wild bear and the history of teddy bear starts in 1902. He is carved from a very light wood and when I pick him up he almost feels as if he could be made of cork, but I really am not sure. He has sweet little glass eyes which are highlighted by tiny dark paint marks on either side. Around his waist a belt has been glued at the back which feels like leather and attached to this belt there is a navy blue drum made from some form of felt detailed around the edge with some gold like embroidery and the pins were there when I bought him. He is in wonderful condition, he feels delicate when you hold him, but I think that has a lot to do with the lightness of weight of his body with the weight of felt drum which is loosely but securely attached with what looks like cotton. He measures approx 2&1/2" in height by 2&1/2" in width.
I have done my usual research but have failed to come up with any similar pincushions, he is just so cute you want to protect him, I think it is that face with those glass eyes and painted black nose which make him so adorable.
